Trailblazer Tennis drops 2 matches Friday; finishes 5th at NJCAA Tennis Championship

PLANO, Texas – The Vincennes University Tennis Team dropped both of its finals Friday and finished fifth in the NJCAA Div. I National Tennis Championship at Collin College in Plano, TX. Laredo, leading by three points starting play on Friday, needed only one win to claim the team title and got it early to erase any chance that second-place Tyler had to pull off a miracle finish. The Trailblazers recorded their 16th consecutive Top-10 finish. VU's David White, Jose Soto and Jose Zaatini are Second-Team All-Americans by reaching the tournament's final round.

Blazer Baseball to hold June 13 tryouts for 2012-13 VU students; Pro-style workout for former H.S. players, potential transfers

The Vincennes University Blazer Baseball Team will hold open tryouts for the 2012-13 team on June 13 (rain date on June 14) for players who have completed high school eligibility or student-athletes interesting in transferring to VU.
The tryouts will be at VU’s Jerry Blemker Baseball Field, starting PROMPTLY at 10:30 a.m. (EST), and registration will begin between 10 and 10:30 a.m. The tryouts will last most of the day, depending on the number of athletes participating.

Zhuravleva claims Discus national title @ NJCAA Outdoor National Championships

LEVELLAND, Texas – Vincennes University sophomore Tatiana Zhuravleva won the NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship in the Discus Thursday at the NJCAA Div. I National Championships at South Plains College in Levelland, TX.
Zhuravleva, who was fourth in the Shot Put and 11th in the Weight Throw on Wednesday, unleashed a throw of 170 feet, eight inches to garner the Discus title. VU sophomore Ariane Bell was 15th in the Discus at 121 feet, 9 inches.
