PLANO, Texas – The Vincennes University Tennis Team dropped both of its finals Friday and finished fifth in the NJCAA Div. I National Tennis Championship at Collin College in Plano, TX. Laredo, leading by three points starting play on Friday, needed only one win to claim the team title and got it early to erase any chance that second-place Tyler had to pull off a miracle finish. The Trailblazers recorded their 16th consecutive Top-10 finish. VU's David White, Jose Soto and Jose Zaatini are Second-Team All-Americans by reaching the tournament's final round.
PLANO, Texas – The Vincennes University Tennis Team's two semifinal wins Thursday left the Trailblazers out of contention to repeat as NJCAA Div. I National Champions, but VU sophomore David White earned the chance to play for the No. 6 singles title Friday while freshman Jose Soto and sophomore Jose Zaatini will vie for the crown at second doubles. All semifinalists are Honorable Mention All-Americans.
PLANO, Texas – The defending champion and top-ranked Vincennes University Tennis Team won seven of eight quarterfinal matches Wednesday to grab a share of a three-way tie for second at the NJCAA National Tennis Championship at Collin College in Plano, TX. Laredo leads with 34 points, while VU, Collin and Tyler have 33 each. Trailblazer Coach Ron Albers said match play by all teams Wednesday was at a high level. “Absolutely,” he said, “starting with the morning matches.”
