Bio

Right-handed pitcher/infielder Lane Schrader brings a driven mindset, steady confidence, and a clear sense of purpose to the Vincennes University baseball program. A native of Columbus, Indiana, Schrader chose Vincennes because it offered the academic pathway he was looking for in fire safety while also providing a competitive baseball environment that felt like the right personal and athletic fit.

Motivated by a desire to build a strong future and make those closest to him proud, Lane approaches each day with long-term perspective. His goals focus on developing as both a student and athlete while helping the Trailblazers compete for regional championships. One of the defining moments of his baseball journey came during a sectional championship game in high school, when he delivered a go-ahead RBI double — a moment that highlighted both composure and the ability to perform when the stakes were highest.

Known for leaving the impression that he “looks like a baseball player” when people first meet him, Lane balances quiet confidence with strong competitiveness between the lines. Guided by advice reminding him how quickly time passes, he emphasizes enjoying every opportunity and never taking the experience of college athletics for granted. Inspired by Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr., he embraces energy and passion for the game while continuing to chase personal milestones such as lowering his earned run average and competing in baseball’s biggest moments.

A standout at Columbus North High School, Lane earned Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Pitcher honors while helping lead his team to a sectional championship. His versatility on the field — contributing both on the mound and in the infield — reflects a willingness to do whatever is needed to help his team succeed.

Away from baseball, Lane enjoys playing guitar, golfing, and spending time in the gym, rarely going long without training or finding ways to stay active. Faith also plays an important role in his life, shaping both perspective and motivation as he prepares for future challenges. Looking ahead, he hopes to pursue a career as a firefighter while continuing to play baseball as long as possible, combining service to others with competitive ambition.
