Andrews Earns ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Honors
VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University Baseball sophomore centerfielder Jevan Andrews has been named to the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NJCAA Division II Gold Glove Team, recognizing him as one of the nation's premier defensive players and one of just three outfielders selected across NJCAA Division II. The honor was announced Wednesday by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Sporting Goods.
The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award is among the most prestigious defensive honors in amateur baseball, with recipients selected by coaches committees at each collegiate level. The award recognizes the top defensive player at each position throughout the country.
Andrews capped an outstanding two-year career in center field for the Trailblazers by putting together a flawless defensive season in 2026. The sophomore appeared in 52 games, making 50 starts, while recording 130 putouts and three assists without committing a single error. His perfect 1.000 fielding percentage ranked among the best defensive marks in the nation and helped anchor the VU outfield throughout the season.
While Andrews' defensive consistency earned national recognition, his impact extended well beyond the box score. A fixture in center field throughout his VU career, he made 111 starts in the position over two seasons and provided a steady presence for the Trailblazer staff with his range, instincts, and reliability.
"Jevan is incredibly deserving of this award," VU Head Coach Chris Barney said. "For the past two years, he has been the foundation of our defense in center field. Even during times when he faced challenges offensively, there was never any question about the value he brought to our team because of the way he played defense. He works relentlessly at his craft, approaches the game with humility, and has been an outstanding representative of our program both on the field and in the classroom."
Barney believes Andrews' best baseball remains ahead of him as he continues his pursuit of opportunities at the four-year level. "Jevan is the type of student-athlete every coach wants in a program," Barney added. "He's a tremendous competitor, an excellent student, and someone who consistently puts the team first. His best baseball is still in front of him, and he will be very difficult to replace. I'm extremely proud of everything he accomplished during his time at VU and excited to see what comes next in his career."
In addition to his defensive excellence, Andrews contributed offensively during the 2026 season, batting .212 with 31 hits, 23 RBIs, 28 runs scored, and 13 stolen bases.
Currently uncommitted for next season, Andrews leaves VU as one of the top defensive outfielders in program history and joins an elite group of players recognized nationally for their defensive achievements. His selection adds another national honor to the Trailblazer baseball program and serves as a testament to the work ethic and consistency he displayed throughout his two-year career.
