Burton earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and a master’s degree in Exercise Science from Indiana University. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at IUPUI in the School of Physical Education, serving as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for baseball, softball, and women’s basketball. He later held a similar role at Butler University, working with the same programs.

At the high school level, Burton has served as Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Edinburgh and Southwestern (Jefferson County), as well as Head Varsity Football Coach at North Harrison. In 2016, he was the pitching coach at Indian Creek High School, where he helped lead the program to its first sectional championship in more than 20 years while developing six pitchers who advanced to the collegiate level.

Burton’s coaching philosophy is rooted in player development and continuous improvement.
