CARTERVILLE, Ill. – The No. 20-ranked Vincennes University Trailblazers joined a growing group of schools fighting for eight at-large bids to the NJCAA Division I National tournament in Hutchinson, Kan. after falling 77-68 to No. 12 John A. Logan in the Central District Championship game Friday night. The Volunteers jumped out to the early lead, gaining a 13-5 advantage. Vincennes would respond to narrow the margin to 23-20 midway through the first half, before Logan would expand the lead to double-digits just before the half. A three-point basket at the buzzer gave the Vols a 39-26 lead at the break on their home floor.

Vincennes brought the energy from the tip as a Randy Tucker three and a John Ukomadu dunk ignited a 9-0 scoring run to open the game for VU. The lead would hold at nine points midway through the first half, before the Trailblazers went on a 14-3 scoring run to head into the locker room with a 39-24 advantage.

The Trailblazers advance to the NJCAA Division I Central District Semi-Finals, where Vincennes will play host to Shawnee Wednesday, April 7, tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. eastern. Vincennes took control of the game early, taking the lead in the first two minutes of play and never relinquished it, going on a 13-2 scoring run to take a 13-4 lead.

Wells was coming off a 13-point 15-rebound game at Lewis and Clark Saturday afternoon and followed that with 22 points and 11 rebounds in VU’s 68-58 win.
