Omar Abdelsamia

Bio

Omar Abdelsamia grew up surrounded by athletic influence—his father, Emad Mohy El Den, played professional basketball, while his mother, Sabrin Abdelhamid, represented Egypt in Olympic taekwondo. That upbringing instilled in him both toughness and humility, shaping a mindset built around discipline and consistency. Motivated by earning his coaches’ trust and helping his team win, he embraces every practice as a chance to improve. His goals this season are simple but powerful: keep getting better every day, stay mentally strong, and be a positive, reliable teammate.

Away from the game, Omar enjoys fishing, hunting, and playing golf, balancing his demanding training with time outdoors. His favorite foods include Chipotle and popcorn, and he draws inspiration from NBA superstars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant—the same passion that drives his dream of playing professionally, either in the NBA or overseas. He admires Leonardo da Vinci for his curiosity across all disciplines, and says that if he could trade places with anyone for a day, it would be LeBron James—“just to know how it feels to be a billionaire.”

Omar’s most memorable athletic moment came when he helped his Ahly Sporting Club team capture the Super League Cup and earned Final Game MVP honors. He still carries with him the best advice he’s ever received—“always be consistent and disciplined”—words that guide both his play and his outlook on life.

He chose Vincennes University on the recommendation of a trusted friend and immediately felt a connection with the coaches and teammates. Focused on a major in Sports Management, Omar is determined to graduate while continuing to develop as both an athlete and a leader.
