Bio

Sheriff Akerele prides himself on being a hard worker, both in practice and in competition. Motivated purely by the game of basketball itself, Sheriff has built his journey around consistency, discipline, and improvement—values that push him to “be better than I was last year.”

He describes his most memorable moment as recording a 20-point, 20-rebound performance in a varsity game, a milestone that affirmed his potential as a difference-maker. His short-term goal is to earn a Division I scholarship, and long-term, he dreams of playing basketball professionally. 

Off the court, Sheriff keeps things simple. He enjoys traveling—especially trips to Miami—and spends his free time relaxing, listening to Bryson Tiller, or catching an episode of SpongeBob. His favorite saying, “That’s real,” reflects his straightforward personality, while his biggest pet peeve—smelling bad—shows his attention to detail even beyond basketball. Known by teammates as humble and respectful, he values loyalty, good energy, and a sense of humor.

Sheriff chose Vincennes University because he saw opportunity—“they saw potential in me, and I saw a future with this school.” He appreciates the support system around him and the competitive culture that motivates him to keep working toward his goals.
