Bio
Brian Davis will enter his 21st season as an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach for the Vincennes University (VU) Trailblazers in 2025–26. Over the course of two decades, Davis has been instrumental in establishing and maintaining one of the premier junior college basketball programs in the nation. His responsibilities include recruiting, academic coordination, individual skill development, directing the team’s annual jamboree and youth summer camps, and organizing team travel, among a variety of other critical program functions.
The 2024–25 season was a memorable one, as Davis assisted in guiding the Trailblazers to a 28–5 overall record and a perfect 16–0 mark in NJCAA Region 24 regular season play. VU earned its 38th appearance in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament, posting impressive wins over Three Rivers and Indian Hills before falling in a tightly contested quarterfinal matchup against Panola College. The team was led by standout redshirt-sophomore guard LeBron Thomas (Bishopville, SC), who earned NJCAA 1st-Team All-American honors after averaging over 18 points per game and emerging as one of the most dynamic scorers and leaders in the country.
Since joining the Trailblazer coaching staff, Davis has helped lead VU to an impressive 540–126 overall record, averaging 27 wins per season. During that span, the Trailblazers have reached the NJCAA National Tournament 14 times, including four Final Four appearances and a National Championship in 2019. The program has consistently been ranked among the nation's elite, earning the #1 national ranking multiple times and tying the school record for consecutive home wins with 52 straight victories at the P.E. Complex.
Coach Davis has been directly involved in the recruitment and development of 21 NJCAA All-Americans, many of whom have gone on to play at the NCAA Division I level in major conferences such as the Big Ten, Big 12, SEC, and Pac-12. His recruiting success includes Mychal Mulder, who has played in the NBA for the Golden State Warriors, Orlando Magic, and Miami Heat, and Craig Porter Jr., currently with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In 2020, Davis was recognized by Silver Waves Media as one of the 50 Most Impactful Coaches in Junior College Basketball and was also honored by Basketball Scoop as the NJCAA’s Top Assistant Coach, further solidifying his reputation as one of the most respected and effective coaches in the junior college ranks.
Before joining VU, Davis coached at Lawrenceville and Robinson High Schools in Illinois, and at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Kentucky. As an assistant coach at Robinson, he helped guide the team to a 29–3 record and a berth in the Illinois Elite Eight in 2002.
As a player, Davis starred at Lawrenceville High School, earning All-North Egypt Conference honors in 1995 while helping lead the program to two conference and regional championships. He is a proud graduate of VU and the University of Kentucky, where he earned a degree in Health Promotion.
He currently resides in Vincennes with his wife Megan, and their three children: Presley, Bennett, and Grady.
