Bio
At VU, Hunter Meyer has set clear goals for the season. Individually, he wants to raise his average to 170, while for the team he has one simple goal: win. He is motivated by his faith, crediting the Bible as his source of strength, and embraces the advice to “never stop doing what you love.” Known for his imposing presence at 6’4” and 300 pounds, Hunter says people’s first impression of him is usually just, “wow, he is big.” His motto reflects his grounded approach: “well then.”
Off the lanes, Hunter is pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity with career plans in the IT field, and he dreams of one day becoming an executive. He enjoys gaming, LEGO building, and Gundam model building, and admits that nobody knows how much he enjoys reading in his free time. He can’t imagine a week without Monster Energy, lists pizza as his favorite food, water as his midnight snack, and Fourth Wing as his favorite book. His favorite movie is Fast and the Furious, Last Man Standing is his favorite TV show, and Pierce the Veil’s Bulls in the Bronx tops his music playlist . He also admires Shaquille O’Neal, saying he’d love to trade places with him for a day to see his car collection.
Hunter chose Vincennes University because of the affordability and the chance to continue competing as part of a supportive team. Supported by his parents, Kyle and Kristin Meyer, and brothers Cole and Austin, he says the best part of being an athlete at VU is simply his teammates. With his humor, size, and determination, Hunter is eager to make his mark for the Trailblazers on and off the lanes.
Coach LeMond on Hunter...
"Hunter is a one-hander who averaged 150 in limited games last season. He is still developing his release but adds great personality and energy to the team."
