Trailblazer bowling places ninth at Warhawk Open

ADDISON, Ill. – The Vincennes University bowling team continues to improve through the 2021 season, with their ninth place finish out of 23 teams at the 2021 EBONITE Warhawk Open Saturday.

Vincennes was led by Alex Wiles, who finished as the 10th best bowler of the weekend with a total of 1336 pins in six games for an average score of 222.7.

Wiles was followed by teammates Dylan Mollo and Cameron Smith, who placed in the top 35 bowlers.

Mollo placed 24th with a total of 1257 pins, including a team-high 268 pins in one round and an average score of 209.5. Smith placed 35th with a total of 1215 pins and an average score of 202.5.

VU also posted scores from Isaac Wake and Michael Whiteside. Wake placed 73rd with an average score of 185.7 and Whiteside placed 103rd with an average of 168 on the day.

"It was a pretty good weekend for us at this point," VU bowling coach Stephen Mohn said. "Our spare shooting could have been better, but we are seeing real improvement. Everyone was engaged and pretty focused on the task at hand all day Saturday. Overall I was really proud of the way the guys bowled and competed this weekend."

The Trailblazer bowling team now turns their attentions to this weekend's Leatherneck Classic in Moline, Ill., starting Saturday March 20 and continuing Sunday March 21.
