VU Bowling Team hits the lanes for the first time this season at Boilermaker Classic

LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Vincennes University Bowling Team saw their first tournament action over the weekend at the Boilermaker Classic at Mike Aulby's Arrowhead Bowl in Lafayette Saturday, Oct. 29 and Sunday, Oct. 30.

The Trailblazers were led over the weekend by sophomore Michael Zimmerman (Highland, Ind.) who ended with a five-round total of 916 for an average score of 183.2 and a team-leading 244.

Zimmerman was followed closely behind by sophomore Brighton Lucas (Salem, Ill.) who ended with a final score of 913 for a tournament average of 182.6. Lucas's best round of the day was a 205.

Freshman Carson McDivitt (Richmond, Ind.) also had a good day with a total of 895 and an average round score of 179. McDivitt closed out the individual rounds on a high-note with his best round of the day of 233.

Freshman Ethan Staples (Columbus, Ind.) ended with a total of 790 and an average of 158 with his best round also coming at the end of the day with a 191.

Sophomore William Keene (Sullivan, Ind.) ended his day with a total of 474 in three rounds of action for an average of 158.

Senior Lucas Breckenridge (Martinsville, Ind.) picked up for the Blazers in the fourth game of the day and finished with a 162.

Freshman Jacob Mason (Bloomington, Ind.) closed out the day for the Blazers in the fifth game with a 126.

The Trailblazers as a team finished with an overall score of 6949, good for 10th out of 12 teams.

"Results happen over time, not overnight," VU Bowling Coach Paul Lemond said. "Work hard, stay consistent and be patient, this is what our time needs to be focused on right now."

The VU bowlers will be in action in two weeks when the Trailblazers travel to Beavercreek, Ohio, just outside of Dayton to take part in the Raider Classic Saturday, Nov. 12 and Sunday, Nov. 13 at Beaver-VU Bowl.
