Bio
At VU, Dustin “Dusty” Taylor's season goals are clear: he wants to consistently shoot under par and help the Trailblazers be successful as a team. He is motivated by his family and guided by the advice to “don’t focus on the past, focus on the present.” Known for his humor and lighthearted personality, Dustin says when people first meet him, they often think he’s “crazy” because he loves to make people laugh and create a good time. His motto reflects his philosophy: “chase your dreams.”
Off the course, Dustin is pursuing a degree in Welding, with career plans to become a travel welder, combining his love for hands-on work with the flexibility to play as much golf as possible. He also owns DT Lawn Care, showing entrepreneurial initiative at a young age. His hobbies include golf, fishing, and hunting, and he admits that nobody realizes how much time he spends hunting. His favorite foods are shrimp and chocolate chip cookies, his favorite movie is Happy Gilmore, and his favorite TV show is Pawn Stars. He also loves country music, especially Blacktop’s Use Me, and can’t imagine a week without working and spending time with his family.
Dustin dreams of attending The Masters and says if he could break any record, it would be the course record at Augusta National. He admires Tiger Woods and would trade places with Bill Gates for a day just to know what it feels like to be that wealthy. He chose Vincennes University because it was close to home, had a strong welding program, and gave him the opportunity to compete for a respected golf team under Coach Dennis Chattin. Supported by his parents, Dustin and Eva Taylor, and his sister Macy, Dustin looks forward to continuing his athletic and academic journey as a Trailblazer.
Coach Chattin on Dusty...
"Dusty adds important depth to the roster. With more on-the-road experience, he can become a consistent contributor. His natural athleticism gives him a strong foundation for the future."
