Bio

Specializing in the 1500m, Anis Abdaoui sets ambitious goals for himself and his team. Personally, he is targeting a time of 3:40 in the 1500m, with hopes of becoming an All-American again and the best athlete in Vincennes University history. For the team, his focus is on competing for strong finishes and building toward championship contention. He cites his coach, Tyler Steigenga, as his biggest motivator, saying that the best part of being at VU is simply “my coach.” Known for his humility and competitive fire, he embraces the advice that first brought him to the U.S.: “Go to the United States.”

Away from the track, Anis enjoys simple hobbies that fuel his training, including running, traveling, and spending time outdoors. He draws inspiration from Kenyan marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge, admires world-class competitors like Isaac Stanford whom he has faced directly, and dreams of one day attending a World Cup soccer match. His favorite foods are traditional Tunisian dishes like couscous, and he admits he can’t imagine a week without Dr. Pepper—or without the influence of his coach.

Anis chose Vincennes University because of its strong athletics program and supportive environment. With his determination, international background, and the mindset of overcoming difficulties, he is poised to be a key figure in the Trailblazers’ pursuit of regional and national success.
