Bio

Jesus Castillo enters the season with clearly defined, performance-based objectives in the throwing events. Competing in the shot put and discus, he has set individual goals of reaching 50 feet in the shot and 160 feet in the discus, while focusing on daily consistency and technical improvement. From a team perspective, his emphasis is on steady progression, work ethic, and helping raise the overall standard within the throws group. His most memorable athletic moment came prior to college, when he scored a touchdown as an offensive lineman—an experience that reinforced his competitive edge and versatility as an athlete.

Jesus identifies internal drive as his primary source of motivation, centered on a constant desire to be better than he was the day before. He lives by the advice, “the more you put in, the more you get out,” and approaches training with that mindset. Since arriving at Vincennes, he has continued learning how to channel that work ethic consistently while adjusting to the demands of collegiate athletics.

Academically, Jesus majors in Fire Science and plans to pursue a career as a fire chief. While he does not list a favorite class yet, his long-term focus is on preparing for leadership and service within his chosen profession. He values the balance between athletics and academics as part of his overall development.

Away from competition, Jesus spends his time playing basketball, video games, and lifting. He lists steak as his favorite food, grapes and pineapple as his go-to late-night snack, and enjoys watching football. He names Stranger Things as his favorite TV show, and cites LeBron James as his favorite athlete, drawn to elite competitors with strong work ethic. Teammates often describe him as a “big dude,” a label he embraces while continuing to refine his discipline and listening skills.

Jesus chose Vincennes University for the opportunity it provided to continue his education and athletic career in an affordable, accessible environment while competing at the collegiate level in track and field.
