Bio

At VU, Lane Connaway’s goals are ambitious yet grounded. Individually, he is working toward breaking 26 minutes in the 8K, while for the team he hopes to help the Trailblazers place higher at Nationals than the previous season. Known for his sense of humor and down-to-earth personality, Lane keeps things light but remains focused on improvement, often reminding himself of the advice he once received: to “treat races like I’m racing in Fast and Furious.” He admires Stanford standout Ky Robinson and recalls the challenge of racing against Dylon Nalley, who went on to compete at the Big Ten Championships.

Off the course, Lane is pursuing a degree in Elementary/Special Education with the career goal of becoming a special education teacher for lower elementary students. He enjoys hobbies such as running, building Legos, and spending time with his siblings, noting that with seven brothers and sisters, there’s never a dull moment. He also admits he can’t imagine a week without Mountain Dew and describes himself as someone who balances competitiveness with fun.

Lane chose Vincennes University because of the opportunity to compete and improve, while also finding a supportive academic program that aligned with his career goals. With his dedication, sense of humor, and drive to push himself and his teammates, he is ready to be an important contributor for the Trailblazers in both cross country and track.

Coach Mangan on Lane...
