Bio
One of Evan Dailey’s most memorable athletic moments was standing with his teammates as state champions, a moment that he says fueled his desire to keep competing at the next level. At VU, his goals are clear: to break 27:00 in the 8K, establish himself as one of the team’s top runners, and help the Trailblazers win Regionals and place in the top 10 nationally. Known for his sense of humor and easygoing nature, Evan keeps the sport in perspective while also embracing his pre-race superstition of eating steak the night before a meet. He draws inspiration from U.S. Olympian Cole Hocker and considers former teammate Dylan Nalley, now competing at the NCAA level, as one of the best athletes he’s ever raced against.
Off the course, Evan is pursuing a degree in Multimedia Communications with career aspirations of working in the film industry. His dream is to become a film director, and he cites Christopher Nolan as a personal role model, even saying he’d love to trade places with him for a day. He enjoys watching movies and TV shows, playing the tuba, fishing, and being involved in activities like Band, Future Business Leaders of America, and Friends in Christ. He lives by the saying, “It’s not about the size of the dog in the fight, it’s about the size of the fight in the dog.”
Evan chose Vincennes University because of its supportive team culture, affordability, and the chance to continue running at a high level while pursuing his academic goals. Motivated by his family, faith, and the chance to give his team the best opportunity for success, he looks forward to building on his high school legacy and making an impact for the Trailblazers.
