Jared Dunkel

Bio

Jared Dunkel enters the season focused on establishing himself among the top throwers on the roster. Competing as a thrower in track and field, his individual objective is to rank among the top three on the team while continuing to build consistency at larger, more competitive meets. From a team standpoint, his priority is performing well on bigger stages and contributing to strong overall results. His most memorable athletic moment came in high school when he won the sectional championship in the discus, a milestone that reinforced his confidence in the event.

Jared is motivated by a desire to become the best version of himself. He lives by a straightforward, accountability-driven mindset and credits discipline and routine for keeping him focused. Known for his intensity and energy, he approaches training with consistency and relies on preparation and repetition, including maintaining the same routine before every meet.

Academically, Jared majors in Agribusiness, a program that played a significant role in his decision to attend Vincennes. His long-term goal is to earn his degree while building a foundation for a career connected to agriculture. He values the opportunity to pursue a field of study that aligns directly with his interests and background.

Away from competition, Jared stays active through hunting, fishing, farming, drumming, pickleball, and golf. He lists steak as his favorite food, fruit snacks as his go-to snack, and enjoys watching football. He names Water Boy as his favorite movie and says he can’t imagine a week without drumming, a passion that carries over into his everyday routine. He is often described as loud and energetic, traits that match his competitive personality.

Jared chose Vincennes University because it offered an Agribusiness major not widely available elsewhere, allowing him to continue his athletic career while pursuing a degree aligned with his long-term goals.
