Bio
Hayden Kler enters the season focused on steady improvement in the distance events. Competing primarily in the mile and 3,000 meters, his individual goal is to continue lowering his times while contributing to overall team progress. From a team standpoint, his emphasis is on collective improvement and consistency. His most memorable athletic moment came during his freshman year of high school, when he won a sectional championship in track, setting the tone for his development as a distance runner.
Hayden is motivated by personal responsibility and the belief that his actions have consequences. He lives by the advice, “Only I can control me,” and approaches training with a measured, disciplined mindset. Since arriving at Vincennes, he has gained a stronger awareness of accountability and how daily habits directly affect performance, both academically and athletically.
Academically, Hayden majors in Natural Resources and Environmental Science and plans to pursue a career as a meteorologist, with the goal of working for NOAA. He lists Intro to Climate and Weather as his favorite class at VU and values coursework that aligns closely with his long-term professional interests.
Away from competition, Hayden enjoys playing musical instruments, running, and boating. He lists chicken wings as his favorite food and trail mix as his go-to snack. He enjoys watching Formula 1, names Oscar Piastri as his favorite athlete, and cites Real Genius as his favorite movie. He says he can’t imagine a week without his hat and is often described as “weird” when people first meet him, a label he embraces as part of his personality.
Hayden chose Vincennes University because of his family’s connection to the institution and the opportunity to compete as part of a close-knit team while pursuing his academic and career goals.
