Wade Wickham

Bio

Wade Wickham enters the season with a steady, purpose-driven approach in the pole vault. His individual objective is to consistently clear between 14 and 14 feet, 6 inches, while focusing on technical refinement and confidence on the runway. From a team perspective, his priority is collective improvement, measuring success by the progress made across the entire group. One of the most defining stretches of his athletic career came in high school, where he qualified for the state meet in back-to-back seasons and captured a sectional championship.

Wade’s motivation is rooted in faith and perspective, guided by the principle of doing everything for the glory of God. He lives by the belief that following God provides direction both on and off the track. Often described as energetic and unconventional when first meeting others, he brings enthusiasm and authenticity into daily training while remaining grounded in his values.

Academically, Wade majors in Agribusiness and plans to pursue a career as an agronomist within the agricultural industry. He is also interested in long-term opportunities connected to land management and outdoor work. His academic path aligns closely with his background and interests, reinforcing his desire to build a future connected to agriculture.

Away from competition, Wade spends much of his time duck hunting, boating, and enjoying the outdoors. He lists homemade meals as his favorite food and apple turnovers as his go-to snack. He enjoys watching football, names Spy as his favorite movie, and says he can’t imagine a week without food. He values time with family and his girlfriend and keeps his lifestyle centered on relationships and balance.

Wade chose Vincennes University because of its affordability and proximity to home, providing an opportunity to continue competing in track and field while pursuing an academic path that fits his long-term goals.
