Bio
Jacob Smith is entering his second year as Assistant Coach - Throws for Vincennes University Track & Field. A graduate of Perry Meridian High School (IN), Smith competed in shot put and discus before missing his senior season due to COVID-19. He went on to throw shot put, weight throw, discus, and hammer for VU during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
During the 2025 Outdoor Track and Field season, Smith helped prepare Maliek Bush (SO-Jeffersonville, Ind.) for competition in the decathlon at the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. Under Smith’s guidance, Bush delivered outstanding performances in all three throws—placing 5th in the javelin (52.09 m), 5th in the shot put (11.93 m), and competing strongly in the discus (30.71 m)—helping him secure a 4th-place overall finish with a score of 6,453 points.
Smith graduated from VU in 2024 with an Associate of Arts in General Studies-Law Enforcement. He will complete his Bachelor of Science degree in Homeland Security at VU in spring 2026.
