VINCENNES, Ind. – In what could best be described as a ‘trap game’ the Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers hosted the 3-15 Southwestern Illinois Lady Blue Storm just two days ahead of hosting the No. 12-ranked Wabash Valley Warriors. Vincennes avoided the trap of looking ahead to Thursday however, as the Lady Blazers finished off a convincing 97-53 win over SWIC. VU got the scoring started early, with Reeva Hammelman and Shaila Beeler connecting from long range to give the Blazers a quick 6-0 lead.

CENTRALIA, Ill. – The 2021 Vincennes University basketball season is beginning to wind down and the Lady Blazers took their show on the road for the final time this regular season to take on Kaskaskia College and VU came away with the 86-76 win. The Trailblazer offense got started early, feeding Alexis Radcliff under the basket on her way to nine points in the first quarter of play. Radcliff’s offensive showcase gave Vincennes the early 27-21 lead after 10 minutes of play. VU continued to push the tempo offensively in the second quarter, this time going through Amani Brown as the Trailblazers built a 52-42 halftime lead.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers hosted the Shawnee Saints in a makeup game from earlier this season Monday night. VU was fresh off their win over Lincoln Trail that gave Hall of Fame head coach Harry Meeks his 700th career win as leader of the Lady Blazers and continued their winnings ways with a 67-60 win over Shawnee. Early on, one could see that this was going to be a defensive showcase. With the two squads playing physical, hard-nosed defense that forced a lot of difficult shots and plenty of turnovers.

Vincennes got off to a rough start in the first quarter as KCC was able to find open shooters on the perimeter. Trailblazer freshman Noni Russell hit a buzzer-beating three to cut the Blue Angel lead to just seven points after the first 10 minutes.

VINCENNES, Ind. – Head Coach Harry Meeks is coming off being inducted into the NJCAA Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame enters his 30th season patrolling the Vincennes sidelines and hopes to make 2021 a season to remember as he sits just nine wins away from 700 victories at Vincennes University. VU returns only one starter from the 2020 season in sophomore guard Amani Brown. Brown averaged 15.1 points and 3.4 assists last season and will look to build on that production as her role on the team grows.
