Lady Trailblazers get first win of the season in comeback fashion against Jefferson College
HILLSBORO, Mo. – The Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers bounced back after opening their season with a road loss to Mineral Area by erasing an eight-point halftime deficit to get a 72-68 win over Jefferson College Thursday night. VU fell behind early, trailing by six at the end of the first period, then seeing the deficit grow to 38-30 at halftime.

VU fell behind early, trailing by six at the end of the first period, then seeing the deficit grow to 38-30 at halftime.
The Trailblazers came out of the locker room determined not to get their second loss of the season, starting the third period of play on 15-0 scoring run that completely shifted the momentum of the game.
Vincennes showed their muscle in the third quarter, outscoring host Jefferson College 27-14 in the 10-minute period.
The Blazers fought hard in the fourth to avoid giving the lead back to Jefferson and managed to come away with their first win of the young season with a four-point victory.
The victory marks win number 692 for Hall of Fame Head Coach Harry Meeks at Vincennes University. Meeks was inducted into the NJCAA Women's Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame this past summer.
Sophomore guard Amani Brown led the charge for VU, finishing her night with 19 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Sophomores Nina Blade, Alexis Radcliff and Shaila Beeler would join Brown scoring in double figures, with Blade and Radcliff finishing with 11 and Beeler finishing with 10 points, six assists and five rebounds.
The Lady Blazers will hit their home floor for the first time this season as they host Mineral Area Saturday, Jan. 30, at 5 p.m.
Vincennes will then hit the road Monday, Feb. 1, as the Blazers begin Region 24 play against Olney Central. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. eastern.
