VINCENNES, Ind. – 2021 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Pole vault National Champion and North Knox graduate Makinzi Meurer signed her letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic careers at Indiana State University Tuesday afternoon. “What led me to choosing Indiana State was the welcoming atmosphere and the great program they have,” Meurer said. Meurer was part of a Trailblazer pole vaulting squad that produced three National Championships this season, as well as six top-three finishes at Nationals during the 2021 Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field seasons.
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Trailblazer javelin throwers Makinzi Meurer and Walter Martin moved their names to the top of the VU record books Saturday afternoon, posting a pair of new school records at the Olivet Nazarene Invitational. Meurer came away with a distance of 33.07 meters and she wasn’t done there, winning the pole vault event after reaching a height of 3.40 meters. Martin finished his day with a javelin win with a throw of 55.97 meters and a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw, posting a throw of 47.66 meters.
