Bio
Elizabeth Smith joins the Trailblazers as a distance runner with a competitive background and a clear focus on progression in longer events. Competing in the 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters, and the steeplechase, she enters the season aiming to post new personal bests both indoors and outdoors. One of the most meaningful moments of her running career came earlier, racing a familiar high school course alongside former teammates—an experience that reinforced her connection to the sport and the relationships built through it.
Elizabeth approaches athletics with honesty and resilience, motivated by persistence and the belief that momentum comes from not letting things linger. She values structure and accountability, acknowledging discipline as an area she continues to sharpen. Often described as outgoing and approachable when first meeting others, she brings an easy energy to the team while maintaining focus on her own development.
Academically, Elizabeth majors in Criminology and has outlined a clear path forward. Her plans include earning a certificate in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement, completing a bachelor’s degree, and entering the workforce. She lists CRIM 230 as her favorite class and values coursework that aligns directly with her long-term professional goals.
Away from competition, Elizabeth spends her time with friends, playing video games, and experimenting with makeup. She lists shrimp as her favorite food and pretzels as her go-to snack, enjoys watching long-distance running, and says she can’t imagine a week without music. She names Parker Valby as her favorite athlete and keeps a few race-day habits, including never crossing the finish line during warmups.
Elizabeth chose Vincennes University because of her connection with the coaching staff and its proximity to home. She values the team environment at VU and the opportunity to continue developing as a distance runner while building a foundation for her future career.
