VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University baseball’s All-Time hits leader Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) announced that he will be continuing his baseball career next season at NAIA Indiana University Southeast in New Albany. “I chose IU-Southeast because the campus was really nice and they have a great culture around their baseball program that I really wanted to be a part of,” Long said. Long closed out his stellar Trailblazer career by setting a new Vincennes University school record for hits in a career with 173 this past season.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team had another sophomore sign with a four-year school this past week in third baseman/outfielder Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) signing with NCAA Division II Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tenn. "Carson-Newman is a place that felt like home,” Evans said. “I really enjoyed the emphasis on faith and work-ethic that they establish in their programs. I enjoyed their program culture and the support each guy has for one another. It was a place where I believe I will grow not only as a baseball player, but also as a person.” Evans burst onto the VU baseball scene quickly as a freshman, taking over at third base in 2022, Evans would go on to rack up 81 hits as a freshman, playing him fifth All-Time in VU school history for hits in a single season.

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomore catcher Will Egger (Terre Haute, Ind.) announced Thursday afternoon that he has officially committed to playing baseball next season at NAIA Missouri Baptist University, just outside of St. Louis. “I chose Missouri Baptist because they have a very successful baseball program and have all the resources I need to get a great degree and further my education,” Egger said. Egger was a two-year starter behind the plate for the Trailblazers, playing in 70 games in his two seasons at VU and ending his Vincennes career with a .286 batting average.

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomores Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.), Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) and Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) each picked up some individual honors for this past season. Burdette would be named second team All-Conference, as well as earning a spot on the All-Region 24 team, while Evans earned second team All-Conference honors for the second year in a row and Colin Long was named to the Region 24 Rawlings Gold Glove team for the second time. Burdette continually set the tone early and often for the VU baseball team, serving as the Trailblazers leadoff hitter and leading the Blazers this season with an outstanding .408 batting average and a team-high 75 hits and scoring a team-leading 59 runs this past season.

VU surrendered four runs in the third inning, which would prove to be the difference as the Bruins came away with the 5-2 victory over the Blazers. The Trailblazers struck first Saturday night after freshman Carter Whitehead (Huntingburg, Ind.) led off the second inning and reached base on an error.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team has hit a rough patch early in the spring 2023 season and it continued into Saturday’s split doubleheader at Jerry Blemker Field. The Trailblazers fell to Morton College in the morning game of the day 10-7 and fell to NJCAA Division III No. 13-ranked Joliet Junior College 12-9 in the final game of the night. The day got off to a rocky start for the Trailblazers with Morton College putting up six runs in the top of the first inning.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team kicked off another big weekend at Jerry Blemker Field Friday afternoon when VU hosted Olney Central College. VU’s defense proved to be the difference Friday afternoon after the Blazers committed three costly errors and fell to the Blue Knights 9-5. Olney Central got things started early after taking advantage of a first inning walk and an error which could have ended the inning to pick up a run in the top of the first.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball offense is beginning to round into form this weekend after scoring 19 totals runs in two games Saturday at Jerry Blemker Field, VU returned to the field Sunday evening to score 13 more runs in a 13-4 win over Ancilla College. The Trailblazers picked up right where they left off yesterday with freshman starting pitcher Gavin Craggs (Taylorville, Ill.) throwing a clean three-up, three-out top of the first. VU then got things going at the plate with sophomore Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) beating out an infield hit to lead off the first. Burdette would later score on a passed ball.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team closed out a long day at Jerry Blemker Field strong with a 7-0 shutout over Ancilla College. Vincennes got the day started Saturday morning and fell to South Suburban College 15-12. The Bulldogs grabbed the early lead, plating a run in the top off the first in game one of the day at VU.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Vincennes University baseball team got off to a great start at the plate, scoring five runs in the first two innings but were unable to maintain this hot start as VU fell 9-5 in the final game of Vincennes’ three-game weekend set at Cleveland State Community College. Vincennes looked to get on the board early and often Saturday afternoon, with the first three batters all reaching base, including an RBI single by sophomore Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) and a two-RBI single by sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) to give VU an early 3-0 lead. The Cougars answered back in the bottom of the first, evening the game and getting all three runs back to end the first inning of play tied 3-3.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The 2023 Vincennes University baseball season got underway with a bang Friday afternoon with the Trailblazers taking game one of the doubleheader 7-4 before falling in game two 3-0. The VU season started quickly with sophomore second baseman Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading off game one of the day with a bunt single. Burdette would later score on an RBI single by sophomore Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.). Evans would also come around to score after executing a delayed double steal with sophomore Will Egger (Terre Haute, Ind.).
