Jaloni Johnson blends skill and showmanship with a team-first approach, earning nicknames like “Loni Wick” and “Grim Reaper” for his fearless mentality on the floor. Known for his leadership and unshakable confidence, Jaloni says his biggest motivation is simple — “my family.” They’ve been his foundation since his first steps in basketball and continue to fuel his drive to reach the next level.

A versatile athlete who’s competed in basketball, track, football, and cross country, Jaloni thrives under competition. His most memorable moment came when he shared the court with his two brothers in high school — a rare experience that reminded him of the joy the game brings. A proud graduate of Proviso East, he has already earned over 1,000 career points and academic honors like the Dean’s List at Malcolm X College, along with Region 4 Honorable Mention recognition.

Off the court, Jaloni enjoys swimming, sleeping, and relaxing with music from his favorite artist, Lil Durk. His playlists, led by the song “Refugee,” and favorite show Sword Art Online keep him balanced between practices and workouts. His go-to meal is Jerk Alfredo Pasta, his dream car is a Trackhawk, and he laughs that people often mistake him for a model — or even for actor Michael B. Jordan. He describes himself as calm, funny, and loyal, with a sense of humor that keeps his teammates loose.

Jaloni’s goals are direct — keep improving, help his team win everything, and one day play in the NBA. Guided by his favorite saying, “Use your head before you lose it,” he approaches every challenge with focus and maturity. He chose Vincennes University for its winning culture and the leadership of Coach Todd Franklin, saying the program’s expectations matched his own ambition.
