Bio

At VU, Vincent “Vince” Murrey's goals are ambitious yet focused. Individually, he hopes to earn Player of the Year honors, while for the team his goal is clear — to win a national championship. He is motivated by winning, success, and the joy of doing what he loves, while guided by advice that still resonates: “People don’t care how many tournaments you won last year. What matters is what you do right now and outshine others.” Known for his quiet personality, Vince says when people first meet him, they often think he isn’t very talkative, but his teammates quickly see how much he invests in his craft. His small pre-competition superstitions include music, taping, and writing on his hand for focus.

Off the lanes, Vince is pursuing a degree in Exercise Science with career goals of becoming a professional athletic trainer for a sports team. His dream job would be working as a pro team athletic trainer, though he also has ambitions of competing professionally on the PBA Tour. He enjoys baseball, basketball, pickleball, and collecting sports cards, and admits he wishes he were better at being more thankful for the people who support him. He can’t imagine a week without his family and girlfriend, and says nobody knows how much he works to perfect his craft. His favorites include hibachi, muffins as a midnight snack, Spider-Man as his favorite movie, Cobra Kai as his favorite TV show, and Polo G with Glorious as his favorite song. He also admires Bryce Harper — the athlete he’d trade places with for a day — and dreams of visiting Japan and attending major baseball and basketball games.

Vince chose Vincennes University because of the scholarship support and the welcoming environment of the program. Supported by his parents, Amy (Holy Cross College) and Jason Murrey (IUPUI), and siblings Max, Iggy, Toby, and Theo, he says the best part of being an athlete at VU is the accountability, the privilege of playing the sport he loves, and the good treatment student-athletes receive. With his humility, work ethic, and motto to always be himself, Vince is eager to make his mark as a Trailblazer.

Coach LeMond on Vincent...

"Vincent is a freshman who is developing his lane play and gaining experience. He has the tools to help the team this year and beyond."
