Trailblazers Conclude Season at USBC Sectionals
SMYRNA, Tenn. — The Vincennes University Men's Bowling team wrapped up its 2025-26 season March 14–15 at the USBC Sectional Qualifier at Smyrna Bowling Center. Competing against many of the top collegiate bowling programs in the region, the Trailblazers finished 15th overall out of 20 teams after two days of competition.
The sectional featured singles competition on the opening day followed by 64 Baker games of team competition, with the top individuals and programs advancing to the USBC National Championships at The Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Day One – Singles
VU was led by junior Dylan Lewis, who turned in the top performance for the Trailblazers by finishing 27th overall with a 1,246 six-game total, highlighted by a strong 255 in his final game.
Several other Trailblazers posted competitive scores in the large field. Sophomore Tad Harvey finished 40th with a 1,214 series, while junior Dakota Waskom added 1,202 pins to place 48th. Sophomore Ryan Webber finished with 1,191 pins, while freshman Nickolas Hubbard totaled 1,154 and sophomore Colton Martin recorded 1,149 across six games. Junior Eli Fromm posted 1,113 pins, followed by junior Nick Gregg with 1,105, sophomore Carter Martin with 1,100, freshman Vincent Murrey with 1,092, and sophomore Zane Anderson with 1,005 to round out the VU lineup.
Head Coach Paul LeMond, in his fourth season leading the Trailblazers, said several bowlers delivered strong performances throughout the singles competition. "We had a few guys bowl really well all weekend," LeMond said. "Dylan Lewis had a great showing and finished near the top of the field, and Nick Gregg and Tad Harvey both bowled really well and gave us some strong performances."
Day Two – Baker Team Play
Team competition shifted to the team Baker format for the final day, with programs bowling 64 Baker games to determine the team standings.
The Trailblazers opened the event with 3,135 pins in the first 16-game block, placing them 10th after the opening session. VU added 2,991 pins in the second block for a 6,126 two-block total, maintaining their position in the middle of the standings entering the afternoon.
The Trailblazers finished the third block with 3,057 pins and added 2,875 pins in the final 16 games, ending the tournament with 12,058 total pins to place 15th overall.
LeMond said the team competed well throughout the event but struggled to maintain momentum at key points. "We bowled well for stretches, but we were a little sluggish coming out of both lunch breaks," LeMond said. "That's something we'll have to clean up in the future. When you're competing at this level, those moments can make a difference."
The sectional event marked the final competition of the 2025-26 season for VU.
LeMond said the team showed steady growth throughout the year while continuing to build the program's future. "We had a good season overall," LeMond said. "We won two tournaments and continued to make progress as a program. This group competed hard all year, and we'll continue building on what we've started as we look ahead to next season."
The Trailblazers concluded the year ranked 43rd nationally while gaining valuable postseason experience against many of the nation's top collegiate bowling programs and laying the foundation for a bright future.
