Bio
At VU, Carter Martin’s season goals reflect both simplicity and determination: to “do good” individually and for the team to “do better.” He admits he wishes he were better at bowling, even as he continues to refine his game, and says his motivation comes largely from money and the drive to succeed. Guided by the advice to “do better” and by his favorite saying, “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” Carter looks to stay focused on steady growth throughout his freshman year. Known for his straightforward personality, he laughs that when people first meet him, they usually just think, “he is a guy.”
Off the lanes, Carter is majoring in Construction Management, with career plans to become a construction manager. He also enjoys woodworking, a hobby that reflects his interest in building and creating. His favorite foods are chimichangas and chicken melts, and he admits he can’t imagine a week without water. He enjoys The Office, rock music, and movies like The Wolf of Wall Street, and lists Larry Bird as his favorite athlete. He also jokes that if a book or movie were made about his life, it would be titled Broke.
Carter chose Vincennes University because it provided him the chance to continue bowling at the collegiate level, even though he says he didn’t have many other offers. Supported by his parents, Chris and Gina Martin, and siblings Cooper, Colton, and CJ, Carter says the best part of being an athlete at VU is the dorm life and the camaraderie that comes with being part of the team. With his sense of humor, straightforward nature, and determination, he looks forward to developing his game and making his mark as a Trailblazer.
