Matthew Mills

Bio

At VU, Matthew Mills' personal goal is to qualify for the starting lineup, while for the team he hopes to help the Trailblazers earn a trip to the NJCAA National Championship. He is motivated by his future and guided by the advice to “be true to yourself.” Known for his humor, Matthew says when people first meet him, they usually think he’s funny, though he admits “nobody knows how much I work.” He lives by the saying “play stupid games, win stupid prizes” and stays grounded in his simple approach to improvement.

Off the course, Matthew is majoring in Construction Technology, with long-term career plans of becoming a construction manager and eventually the president of a construction company. He enjoys golf, fishing, and hunting, and can’t imagine a week without money, which he jokes keeps him motivated. His favorite food is a cheeseburger, his go-to midnight snack is muffins, and his favorite movie is Blade Runner 2049. He also enjoys River Monsters, country music, and lists Jack Nicklaus as his favorite athlete. If he could trade places with anyone for a day, it would be Alan Jackson to experience life as a country music star, and if he could break any record, it would be the course record at his home golf course.

Matthew chose Vincennes University because it gave him the opportunity to compete, grow, and build strong friendships. Supported by his parents, Greg and Kelli Mills, and his brother Mason, he looks forward to contributing to the Trailblazers while also laying the foundation for his career. With his determination, humor, and hard-working attitude, Matthew is ready to make his mark on and off the course.
