Meurer and Martin set new school records at Olivet Nazarene Invitational
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Trailblazer javelin throwers Makinzi Meurer and Walter Martin moved their names to the top of the VU record books Saturday afternoon, posting a pair of new school records at the Olivet Nazarene Invitational. Meurer came away with a distance of 33.07 meters and she wasn’t done there, winning the pole vault event after reaching a height of 3.40 meters. Martin finished his day with a javelin win with a throw of 55.97 meters and a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw, posting a throw of 47.66 meters.

Meurer came away with a distance of 33.07 meters and she wasn't done there, winning the pole vault event after reaching a height of 3.40 meters.
Martin finished his day with a javelin win with a throw of 55.97 meters and a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw, posting a throw of 47.66 meters.
Vincennes came away with three top-four finishers in the men's pole vault, with Matteo Capello finishing first, Cole Sumner third and Matthew Frazier fourth.
Anthony Campbell and Kyle Stewart took the top-two spots in the men's long jump. Campbell finished with a jump of 7.08 meters and Stewart at 6.94 meters.
The Trailblazers posted another event win when Meagan Moreno took the top spot in the women's 5000 meters. Moreno finished with a time of 18:55.71.
Jahod Fair finished second in the men's 400 meter hurdles and the VU women's 4 x 400 meter relay team placed third.
The Trailblazer track and field teams now turn their attentions to the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Nationals meet at South Plains College in Levelland, Tex. The meet will begin Tuesday May 11 and run through May 13.
