Bio

Iheb Slimani brings an aggressive, goal-oriented mindset into the season, centered on continual progress in track and field. His primary individual focus is improving on his personal bests, particularly in the 1500 meters, while pushing toward higher-level results. From a team perspective, he measures success by winning and contributing to first-place finishes. One of the standout moments of his career came when he recorded a personal best in the 1500, a performance that confirmed his belief in long-term development through consistent work.

Iheb is driven by family, identifying his brother as his main source of motivation. He operates with a forward-leaning mentality, guided by the principle of never giving up and always striving to be better than the day before. Influenced by elite distance runners like Hicham El Guerrouj, he approaches training with intent and ambition, keeping his focus on the future rather than past results.

Academically, Iheb is pursuing General Studies while continuing to develop his English skills, which he lists as his favorite class at Vincennes. His long-term vision centers on becoming a champion in his sport, viewing education as a key part of his overall growth and stability.

Outside of training, Iheb keeps things simple. He enjoys playing video games, lists chicken as his favorite food and chips as his preferred snack, and spends much of his free time focused on recovery and preparation. He enjoys watching track, names Fast and Furious as his favorite movie, and says he can’t imagine a week without training. When people first meet him, he is often described positively, reflecting his confident but approachable demeanor.

Iheb chose Vincennes University because he connected with the environment and saw it as a place where he could pursue both his athletic goals and personal development while continuing his journey in track and field.

Coach Mangan on Iheb...

"Iheb is an elite mid distance runner that will factor greatly on our 4x800 and Distance Medley relays. In addition, he has a chance to be a scorer in the national meet in his individual event."
