Guided by the quote “Don’t let your happiness depend on something you may lose,” Selena Wilson plays with a balance of competitiveness and calm, understanding that growth comes from persistence.

Selena’s basketball journey began at Notre Dame High School, where she became a decorated player, earning multiple Athlete of the Week honors, Player of the Year, First-Team All-State, and First-Team All-County recognition. Her most memorable moment came during her freshman-year playoff game, when she hit three straight three-pointers to open the contest, setting the tone for a statement win. She credits her competitive edge to her family—especially her parents, Albert and Kahli Wilson, who both played college basketball at Toledo University and instilled in her a love for the game early on.

Selena’s goals this season are clear and ambitious: “To have the stats to earn the offers and opportunities I want,” and “to help my team win a championship.” She wears No. 11 because “it’s me versus myself,” a reminder that her greatest competition is always internal. Her biggest motivation is tomorrow—the idea of constantly improving who she was the day before.

Off the court, Selena’s creativity and calm nature shine. She’s majoring in Business with a minor in Interior Design, planning to one day own her own design company or work her way up in a design firm. Her dream job, fittingly, is interior designer, and she envisions a future that merges creativity with leadership. She loves reading, sleeping, and playing basketball, and says that if her life were a movie, it would be titled “The Waiting.” Her favorite foods are chicken alfredo and Cheez-Its, her dream car is a Jeep or Bronco, and her go-to movie is The Pursuit of Happiness—a story she connects with deeply.

Selena describes herself as quiet when first met, but driven and loyal once you get to know her. She can’t imagine a week without music, admires Michael Jordan as both an athlete and a historical figure she’d love to meet, and dreams of attending an Olympic basketball game. When asked what she’s learned since arriving at Vincennes, she says, “How much I can push my body to do better.”

Choosing Vincennes University over other offers, Selena says she wanted “to play at a higher level and be part of a program that pushes me.”
