Ben Goodaker

Bio

Pitcher Ben Goodaker brings a disciplined, old-school mindset and deep appreciation for the game to the Vincennes University baseball program. A native of Princeton, Kentucky, Goodaker chose Vincennes after finding the right balance of academics, facilities, and coaching support, allowing him to continue pursuing baseball while studying Law and Conservation close to home.

For Ben, baseball is more than competition — it is a daily commitment shaped by experience and perspective. After spending time away from the game and working in a factory, he developed a renewed appreciation for the opportunity to play again, using that experience as constant motivation. Determined to avoid future regret, he approaches every practice and outing with urgency, focused on maximizing each inning and giving his team the best chance to win regardless of role. While he prefers starting on the mound, he embraces any opportunity to contribute.

One of Ben’s most memorable moments came when his high school team upset a heavily favored Lyon County squad in the first round of the All-A Region tournament, a victory fueled by preparation and confidence rather than flash. That mentality continues to define his philosophy of baseball — emphasizing execution, clean defense, and smart decision-making over highlight moments. Guided by the advice to control what can be controlled and accept what cannot, he maintains a steady approach both on and off the field.

A graduate with distinction and Academic All-District honoree at Caldwell County High School, Ben became one of the most accomplished pitchers in program history, finishing third all-time in career wins while earning multiple All-District and All-Region honors. He also previously competed at Southern Illinois College while taking coursework through WKCTC before arriving at Vincennes.

Away from baseball, Ben spends much of his time training, lifting, or studying the game through video and preparation. Inspired by Major League standout Max Scherzer, he embraces a competitive, detail-oriented style on the mound and dreams of one day pitching professionally. As the first member of his family to compete in collegiate athletics, he carries a strong sense of responsibility and pride in representing both his hometown and his family.

Whether chasing the opportunity to be drafted or simply continuing to compete as long as possible, Ben approaches each day with gratitude for the chance to play again — a perspective that drives his relentless pursuit of improvement and commitment to the Trailblazer program.
