Corner infielder and catcher Carter Gricius brings power potential, versatility, and a steady, team-oriented approach to the Vincennes University baseball program. A native of Scottsburg, Indiana, Gricius chose Vincennes because it offered the academic pathway he was looking for, allowing him to pursue a welding degree while continuing to compete at the collegiate level.

Quiet by nature when first meeting people, Carter lets his performance speak for itself once the game begins. Baseball has long been a central part of his life and motivation, driving daily improvement and shaping his competitive goals. One of the most memorable moments of his career came during a championship game when he launched two home runs to help send his team into the next round — a performance that highlighted both his power at the plate and ability to deliver in big moments.

Comfortable playing multiple positions, Carter contributes at both third base and behind the plate, bringing toughness and adaptability developed through years of competition. A former multi-sport athlete at Scottsburg High School who also earned All-Conference honors in soccer, he developed athleticism and field awareness that continue to benefit him defensively.

Away from baseball, Carter enjoys spending time outdoors fishing and hunting, interests that reflect his laid-back personality outside the competitive environment. He also values the friendships and camaraderie built within the program, noting that being around teammates is one of the best parts of being a Trailblazer. Since arriving at VU, he has focused on developing new skills in the welding field while balancing academics and athletics.

Guided by the simple advice to never give up, Carter approaches each season with goals centered on becoming the best version of himself while helping the team compete for championships. Inspired by standout collegiate players and motivated by a genuine love for the game, he continues working toward bigger achievements — including chasing home run records and helping lead Vincennes toward postseason success.
