Right-handed pitcher Alexander “Alex” Wandersee brings humor, authenticity, and a competitive drive rooted in relationships to the Vincennes University baseball program. A native of Centerville, Indiana, Wandersee chose Vincennes because of the strong academic opportunities and welcoming campus environment, allowing him to pursue studies in Automotive Technology and Collision Repair while continuing to compete at the collegiate level.

Motivated most by the teammates around him, Alex approaches baseball with a team-first mentality and a focus on steady improvement. His goals center on staying healthy throughout the season and lowering his earned run average while helping the Trailblazers capture another district championship. One of the most meaningful moments of his athletic journey came when he committed to play baseball at Vincennes — a milestone that represented years of work paying off and the opportunity to continue the sport he loves.

Known for leaving a funny first impression, Alex embraces humor as part of his personality while maintaining strong competitiveness on the mound. Since arriving at Vincennes, he has learned how to adjust to higher levels of competition, valuing the resources and support available to student-athletes within the program. Guided by advice reminding him not to listen to negativity, he focuses on staying confident and trusting his preparation.

A multi-sport athlete at Centerville High School who competed in baseball, basketball, and tennis, Alex developed athletic versatility that continues to influence his approach to pitching. Baseball traditions also carry personal meaning, as his jersey number honors time spent watching Pete Rose highlights with his grandfather — a connection that helped deepen his appreciation for the game’s history.

Away from baseball, Alex enjoys video games, working on cars, basketball, and spending time exploring automotive interests, including dreams of someday working for a racing team or fabrication shop. A fan of tennis as a spectator sport and someone who hopes to attend Wimbledon one day, he appreciates competition across a wide range of athletics. He also admits few people realize just how much he enjoys Star Wars, a passion that reflects his laid-back personality away from the field.

Looking ahead, Alex hopes to build a career within the automotive or racing industry while continuing to compete in baseball as long as possible. Whether chasing home run records in imagination, improving composure on the mound, or simply enjoying time with teammates, he approaches each opportunity with humor, gratitude, and a commitment to becoming better every day as a Trailblazer.
