Catcher Carson Reed brings energy, competitiveness, and a deep appreciation for baseball tradition to the Vincennes University program. A native of Mayfield, Kentucky, Reed chose Vincennes because it immediately felt like home, offering both a strong sense of brotherhood and the opportunity to continue pursuing his academic goals in Business while competing at the collegiate level.
Driven by family support and a relentless desire to improve, Carson approaches the game with a simple philosophy — stop overthinking and trust the work you’ve put in. His personal goals center on earning a starting role behind the plate and staying composed through adversity, while his team ambitions focus on winning the conference and making a strong push toward the NJCAA World Series. That competitive mindset has been shaped by memorable experiences throughout his career, including the opportunity to play at Busch Stadium, a moment that reinforced his love for baseball’s biggest stages.
Inspired by St. Louis Cardinals legend Yadier Molina — the reason he first became a catcher and a major influence behind his jersey number — Carson values leadership, toughness, and attention to detail at one of the game’s most demanding positions. During his time at Graves County High School, he earned a Johnny Bench Award nomination and multiple Defensive MVP honors while helping lead his team to three district championships and a regional runner-up finish.
Known for his outgoing personality, Carson quickly builds relationships with teammates and credits the family atmosphere at Vincennes as one of the best parts of being a Trailblazer. Since arriving on campus, he has embraced the program’s close-knit culture while continuing to grow both athletically and personally away from home.
Away from the field, Carson enjoys pickleball, spending time with friends, and following dirt-track racing — an interest many people may not immediately expect. A fan of big moments and high-level competition, he dreams of continuing his baseball career at a four-year program and taking the sport as far as possible. Guided by advice reminding him never to take opportunities for granted, Carson approaches each day with gratitude, confidence, and a relentless commitment to improvement.
